Standardized Installation Procedures
1. Pre-installation Preparation
Thorough preparation is crucial for avoiding rework and ensuring installation quality. First, verify the complete set of construction drawings—including floor plans, utility (water/electricity) layouts, exhaust ducting plans, and detailed furniture drawings—to ensure they have been reviewed and approved by all parties. Next, conduct an on-site survey to precisely measure dimensions, floor flatness, and wall verticality; check the locations of utility connections, drainage outlets, and ventilation ports to ensure alignment with the furniture's designated connection points. Simultaneously, clear the site to ensure unobstructed access, maintain the environment at 12–28°C and 40–70% humidity, and implement protective measures for finished components to prevent damage from dust or accidental impacts. Finally, inventory furniture parts, hardware, and specialized auxiliary materials, verifying models and specifications to prevent incorrect or missed installations.
2. Frame and Cabinet Assembly
Adhere to the principle of "frame before cabinet, main unit before accessories." Prioritize the assembly of steel frameworks for laboratory benches and fume hoods; install uprights and crossbeams in sequence, tightening bolts diagonally and in stages to prevent frame distortion. Subsequently, position floor-standing and wall-mounted cabinets, using adjustable leveling feet for initial alignment. Ensure adjacent cabinets are tightly aligned and secured together with connectors to form a stable, integrated structure, preventing any looseness or shifting.
3. Worktop Installation and Jointing
As the primary laboratory work surface, worktops should ideally be factory-prefabricated, requiring only jointing and fine-tuning on-site. Clean the contact surfaces on top of the cabinets, apply a uniform layer of specialized cushioning material, and position the worktops (e.g., solid physicochemical board or epoxy resin board). When joining multiple worktop sections, use specialized corrosion-resistant laboratory adhesive and secure them with clamps to ensure uniform, level seams free from height discrepancies, hollow spots, or looseness.
4. Utility System Connections
Once the main cabinet and worktop installations are complete, proceed with connecting the utility systems, including water, electricity, and ventilation. Precisely cut openings to install plumbing fixtures—such as sinks, faucets, and drip racks—and ensure all connections are properly sealed and waterproofed. Install laboratory-grade electrical circuits, sockets, and switches, ensuring neat wiring and reliable grounding. Accurately connect fume hoods to exhaust ducts and calibrate the seal at the air vents to eliminate air leakage or cross-flow, thereby ensuring the proper operation of the ventilation system.
5. Leveling, Calibration, Cleaning, and Acceptance
Upon completion of the overall installation, perform comprehensive precision calibration: use adjustable leveling feet to fine-tune the unit's level and uniformly adjust the alignment of assembly seams. Subsequently, clear away construction debris and adhesive residue, wipe down the cabinet bodies and work surfaces, and verify the smooth operation of all hardware (hinges, drawers, and sliding mechanisms). Finally, conduct overall system testing and acceptance inspection—verifying structural stability, system compatibility, and surface uniformity—before handing the installation over for use.
