The core layout of the cable combustion laboratory is characterized by independent zoning, fireproof isolation, negative pressure smoke control, and safe evacuation, arranged according to a unidirectional flow of "pretreatment → combustion → control → purification".
I. Overall Functional Zoning (Core)
The laboratory is divided into five independent, physically separated zones: "sample preparation → combustion test → control and monitoring → exhaust gas treatment → gas cylinder room," with mixed zones strictly prohibited.
1. Sample Preparation Area (Antechamber)
●Location: Near the laboratory entrance, connected to the combustion zone via a pass-through window to prevent direct personnel entry into the combustion zone.
●Functions: Cable cutting, stripping, bundling, measurement (3.5m/strand), marking; temperature and humidity: 23℃±2℃, 50% RH±5%.
●Equipment: Wire cutting machine, calipers, bundling tools, sample racks, thermometer and hygrometer.
●Materials: Anti-static, wear-resistant flooring; positive pressure (to prevent backflow of smoke).
2. Combustion Test Area (Core Hazard Zone)
●Location: Located against the outer wall, downwind, with an explosion vent (facing outwards), away from personnel passageways and the control room.
●Dimensions: Bundled combustion furnace ≥4m high, ≥0.8m inner diameter; single vertical combustion chamber approximately 3.4m × 2.4m × 2.4m.
●Equipment:
Bundled combustion furnace: steel ladder support, propane torch (1000℃), thermocouple, exhaust port.
Single vertical combustion chamber: sample rack, igniter, observation window.
Smoke density/heat release tester, drip collection tray.
●Construction: Explosion-proof wall with fire resistance ≥3h, fireproof and explosion-proof glass observation window; high-temperature resistant and waterproof floor, Class A non-combustible material; negative pressure (-5~-10Pa) to prevent smoke overflow.
3. Control Room (Safety Zone)
●Location: Upwind of the combustion zone, isolated from the combustion zone by a 3h fire wall, with independent entrance and exit. Functions: Remote ignition, real-time monitoring of temperature/pressure/smoke density, video surveillance, data acquisition.
●Equipment: PLC control console, industrial computer, monitor, high-definition camera, emergency shut-off/gas shut-off button.
●Environment: Positive pressure (+5Pa), independent fresh air supply, smoke-free; anti-static flooring, flame-retardant cables.
4. Gas Cylinder Room (High-Risk Auxiliary Area)
●Location: Independent compartment, against the outer wall, away from fire sources, ≥5m from the combustion area, isolated by a firewall.
●Storage: Propane/methane cylinders (≤50kg per cylinder), fixed to prevent tipping; leak alarm, emergency shut-off valve, anti-static grounding.
●Ventilation: Forced exhaust ≥15 times/hour, negative pressure, combustible gas concentration monitoring.
5. Waste Gas Treatment Area (End Point)
●Location: Downwind end of the combustion area, near the exhaust vent on the outer wall.
●Process: Fume hood → Piping → Dust removal → Activated carbon adsorption → Alkaline spray (HCl removal) → Standard emission.
●Exhaust: Independent system, exhaust volume ≥ 15 times/hour, wind speed ≥ 2m/s; chimney 3m above the roof.
II. Personnel and Material Flow (Critical)
●Personnel: Entrance → Sample area → Dedicated passage → Control room; Crossing the combustion zone is strictly prohibited.
●Material: Sample receiving → Preparation area → Transfer window → Combustion zone → Waste sample → Dedicated exit; One-way, no backtracking.
●Evacuation: Dual evacuation routes, emergency lighting, safety exit signs; two exits in the combustion zone, directly leading to the outside.
III. Ventilation and Differential Pressure Control (Safety Core)
●Combustion zone: Negative pressure (-5~-10Pa), independent exhaust, preventing smoke overflow.
●Control room/Sample area: Positive pressure (+5Pa), independent fresh air, preventing smoke backflow.
●Gas cylinder room: Negative pressure, forced exhaust, preventing the accumulation of combustible gas. Strictly prohibited: Interconnection of air ducts between zones; mixing of return air.
IV. Fire Protection and Emergency Response (Required)
●Zoned Configuration: Combustion zone equipped with dry powder/carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, fire sand, and fire blankets; control room equipped with gas fire suppression systems; gas cylinder room equipped with explosion-proof fire extinguishing equipment.
●Emergency Systems: Emergency fire stop, emergency gas shut-off, emergency smoke extraction, emergency lighting, and evacuation guidance.
●Protective Equipment: Fireproof clothing, gas mask, high-temperature resistant gloves, eyewash station/shower (near sample area).
